For those who don't know, HellBoy ii: The Golden Army will be released nationwide on July 11, 2008. The whole gang from the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense is back, along with Guillermo del Toro, who directed the original movie. He'd been working on the sequel for some time, and it was going to be a direct-to-video release. What happened to change that? del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth happened, and brought the director a lot of notoriety.

2008 might be quite the year for comic-book-based films. Besides the aforementionned, there is Jon Favreau's IronMan in the works. Comics fan Edward Norton(1) wrote the screenplay and plays the two main characters in The Incredible Hulk. And there's The Dark Knight Returns, with Christian Bale back as Batman, and Heath Ledger as a very scary Joker.

Alas for the likes of my wife and TexAnne, Wolverine won't be released until 2009. Sorry, ladies.
