"Brigadoon" is on TCM and even though it stars Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, it's not one of my favorite musicals. For one thing, the village *is* a prison and the inhabitants all put themselves in there under the mistaken belief that it was the only escape from the threat of witches. On the other hand... It does have Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. Oh, and who knew that the Scotsmen of yore wore colorful tights?

I forgot to mention that Susan Krinard - aka my wife - just sold to Audible.com four of her romance novels. My favorite in the bunch is "Kinsman's Oath", a Space Opera where the heroine - from a planet where women are subservient to men - thinks of herself as an abomination because part of her mind contains the personality of a dead male relative. My friend Elisabeth Vonarburg compared it to the works of CJCherryh.

My office calendar's page for December has no nearly-nude lady capable of withstanding the rigors of the vacuum of space. The only nearly nude human is a shirtless man wearing a red kilt and suspenders. Of course the art does feature a gorgeous lady, but this redhead is fully dressed in amazingly formfitting chainmail, and swinging a mean-looking weapon. Quite appropriate as she is Leigh Brackett’s “Black Amazon of Mars”, from the March 1951 issue of “Planet Stories”.

I just bought my worldcon membership, and Sue's.
See you in Texas next year.

(I'm hoping I'll be drafted into a friend's masquerade presentation that year too. Me, a glutton for punishment? What a silly idea.)

I've packed my carryon and am now ready to go even though my flight to the Bay Area is still a few hours away. I guess I'll resume reading and drinking coffee.

PS: By the way, that meeting at Oakland's Breads of India will be on Monday, not on Tuesday, but still at 6:30pm.
