steampunk lit and outfit

I promise. This is going to be my last FiestaCon/WesterCon post. What can I say? This was the first time I was asked to be on panels at a con - not including an interview of CJ Cherryh about 22 years ago.

Here is the only photo that turned out ok, from the steampunk-literature panel moderated by Michael Contos:

And here is a photo of yours truly in his steampunk outfit, after having had dinner with fellow blogger AJ Reardon and her hubby Chris:

By the way, AJ makes wonderful jewelery, as you can see here.

My wife, writer Susan Krinard, also was on a few panel. During one about what makes a good TV show, someone in the audience said that, while Star Trek's NextGen struck a balance between conservative & liberal politics, he felt that Voyager should have been called Star Trek - Kumbaya. For some reason, I fail to imagine Captain Janeway holding hands with the crew in between her eating carbonized marshmallows.

Somehow, I can't see Commander Chakotay doing that either.

Or B'lanna Torrès.
Or Seven of Nine.

Definitely not Seven of Nine.

And especially not the Doctor.

Laser Eyes

Clearly, Laser Eyes are for steampunks only, as Chris doesn't seem to have any.

Thank you for plugging my jewelry :)

Actually, we steampunk types really go for death rays or heat rays, not lasers. And speaking of which... (http://pics.livejournal.com/serge_lj/pic/0009ed6k/g1).
