"I'm not stupid, I'm not expendable, and I'm not going."
- Avon on Blake's Seven.

Meanwhile, yesterday was a strange day. This last weekend, I was on call for our monthly cycle. And working on the Project from Hell on the same server. With all the delays that my Project caused to the monthly, I was sure that, thru the wonders of telecommuting, I'd get my bottom whipped. What happened instead? My boss congratulated me in front of everybody during our staff neeting for keeping everything going and eventually ending successfully. It then got more bizarre. When I later asked for a day off on February 26, he/she asked if it could be rescheduled. That day apparently is the day of my yearly review and they'll pay to fly me in. It means that, in spite of the Project's problems, he/she's not likely to give me a bad review. Doing that on the phone would be easier. And cheaper.

Weird.

So, that day, instead of a colonoscopy, I'll get reviewed.

Vancouver... San Francisco... There must be something about the West Coast.

Yes, but neither Seattle nor Portland has such a great reputation for pulchritude.

On the other hand, Katie Sackhoff, who plays Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, is from Portland. She's unusual, which is one thing that makes her attractive. To me, anyway.

But on a train in Atlanta you can fall into a conversation with a perfect stranger and discover that you'd gone to school together three decades (plus) earlier.
